Trusting in the Midst of Tragedy

I thank You Lord that You are the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. You comfort me in all my tribulation, so that I may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble with the comfort I have received straight from You. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in my life, so my consolation also abounds through Christ. I praise You, Father, for the comfort You give me when I suffer, because then I have a gift to share with my brothers and sisters who are hurting. For when one of us suffers, Lord, we all suffer. 2 Corinthians 1:3-6, 1 Corinthians 12:26

God, You are my refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble. I thank You that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit. I look to the heavens and remember that You created the stars, calling each one by name. Because of Your great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing. So there is no way I can say that You don’t see the troubles and sadness we face in this life. You are the everlasting God, the Creator of heaven and earth, giving power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Psalm 46:1, 34:18 ESV, Isaiah 40:26-29

Remind Me not to panic, God. You are with me. There is no need to fear because You are my God. You will give me strength. You will help me. You will hold me steady, and keep a firm grip on me. I don’t have to be afraid of sudden disaster or the destruction that comes on the wicked. You are my security, and You will keep my foot from being caught. Greater is Your Spirit, Lord, Who lives in me, than the spirit who lives in this world. Isaiah 41:10 MSG, Proverbs 3:25-26, 1 John 4:4

Jesus, You came and showed us the Father so that we could learn to trust You, so that we could be unshakeable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world we will continue to experience difficulties. But I will take heart, for You have overcome the world. John 16:33 MSG

Help me to understand, Father, that though my present troubles, fears and worries seem overwhelming, they are actually small, and won’t last very long. And yet those same troubles produce for me a glory that vastly outweighs them, and lasts forever! So help me not to look at the troubles I can see now; rather, fix my gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things I see now will soon be gone, but the things I cannot see will last forever. 2 Corinthians 4: 17-18 NLT

Jesus, Your words will never disappear. In fact, You have promised to be with me always, even to the end of the age. I am completely persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate me from Your love which is in Christ Jesus. Matthew 25:35, 28:20 NLT, Romans 8:38

Lord, help me not to worry about the wicked, or envy those who do wrong. Like grass, they will soon fade away and wither. I am deciding to trust in You, and to do good, so that I may dwell safely in the land and prosper. I will take my delight in You, and You will give me my heart’s desires. I commit everything I do to You, Lord, and You will help me. I won’t worry about evil people whop prosper, nor will I fret about the wicked schemes. Help me turn from my anger and rage; for though the wicked plot against me, if I trust in You, I will live in peace and prosperity. Psalm 37:1-5, 7-8, 11 NLT

Now may the Lord of peace give you His peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all. 2 Thessalonians 3:16
